CLEANING, PROTECTION AND EDUCATION

The cleaning and ecological activities involved the following locations:

  • Rovigliano Beach – Campania, Italy, 2020
  • Carini Beach – Sicily, Italy, 2021
  • Foce Varano Beach – Apulia, Italy, 2021
  • Petite Afrique Beach – Cote d'Azur, France, 2021
  • Paloma Beach – Cote d'Azur, France, 2021
  • Des Fourmis Beach – Cote d'Azur, France, 2021

In Italy, the main focus was on some heavily degraded and endangered beaches. Over 4 tons of waste were collected, about 70% plastic which was then sent for recycling.

The activity in France has seen the ecologically correct management of the “Banquette” of Posidonia Oceanica, a seagrass species very important for the marine ecosystem.

Over 400 students between the ages of 10 and 14 participated in the educational, research and cleaning activities on the beaches, guided by the researchers of the CNR and CNRS.
